My Getaway

This past weekend I had the chance to getaway for a couple days. Life has been crazy especially with Luke being gone 7am-10:30pm a couple days a week. It's been a hard adjustment for our family. I went to go visit my friend and old roommate Ranya. Her husband is deployed to Japan for 8 months. When I heard this was happening I told her I would come visit her one weekend. I was supposed to go in April but my first trimester was so bad that I had to postpone it.

So I finally made it happen. It was a blast. I was a little nervous about driving 4.5 hours by myself each way. I tried to find someone to ride with me who had family there but that didn't work out very well. Turns out I love riding all alone. The best part was I could listen to my music without someone telling me they didn't like it. So on the way there i sang my heart out to: Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Wicked, Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, Grease, Tim McGraw, Dave Matthews, Jack Johnson, and many more.

The trip was very chill. I just wanted to eat out with no kids, go to the beach with no kids, sleep in, and get a pedicure. It's exactly what I got. The weather at the beach was perfect that we decided to rent beach cruisers and ride the boardwalk. I haven't done that in 10 years. It was so fun even though my crotch did hurt the day after. I almost looked as good as the girls who rode theirs with their string bikinis. Thanks you Ranya so much for a fun and relaxing weekend. Oh yeah and thanks to my wonderful man who watched the kids. Now all I need is to have a getaway with Luke. Anyone want to watch 3 kids?:)

Good for you lady! You deserve it.
I realized how much I loved riding alone, anywhere, the other day - it was so peaceful. I am glad you made it there and back safely!

I LOVE riding alone. I wouldn't want to do it all the time, but every once in a while it's okay when i take a Utah trip when Alan is working. I guess I'm not really alone. The kids are there. They just watch their movie and I sing my heart out. Sounds like a great trip. Hope that trip with Luke works out for ya. Alan and I are still tying to figure that one out. I guess we should have done it before his parents became missionaries!

That sounds WAY fun! Love the bike! I am picturing you singing your heart out. That's exactly what I do when I drive alone. Mostly because my kids are always begging me to stop singing. hahaha

How fun! I forgot to even ask you about your trip when you came over the other day, I'm rude!

How fun, I think I would enjoy one of those kid-less getaways! And congrats on #4 I hadn't heard you were expecting! Very exciting!

Alright Alis- I think you're full of it! You are not even showing! Glad you had fun. I drove back to Chicago from BYU one year by myself- about 20 hours (did it in 2 days). Had a blast (with a few freaky moments)!
