1. Train more in the sun. We did a lot of our training when the sun was down or just coming up. This race started at 7:30. The sun was out the whole time and this course had no shade. The sun slowed me down and made it tough on me.
2. Always run a race with friends. Makes it so fun!
3.If you run a race out of town make it a girls weekend and stay a day after the race. Don't drive all day after you run.
4.Running by the beach is pretty awesome.
5.If you take any energy gummies make sure you train with them too, or else you will feel sick to your stomach.
6.If you have to walk during the race, do it on the side. Some guy made that known to me.
7.It's okay if an 70 yr old lady passes you.
8.It's kind of okay if a guy passes you with a Wisconsin cheese on his head.
9. It kind of bad if a guy passes you with a a cardboard pacman costume on.
10. It's soooo not okay if a 12 yr old boy passes you.
11. If your family can't be there make sure you let each of your kids pick a song for your ipod. Those songs definitely made me run faster.
12. Make sure you know it's water and not an energy drink before you pour it on your head(ahem...Cindy).
13. The Vaseline on a stick is not to eat(ahem...Cindy)

The 3 crazies with the orange medals ran the full marathon. They did awesome!
3 old friends
Me and Cindy. We trained together for this whole thing. It was a fun time. Even though we complained about getting up early, and having our Saturdays ruined by long runs. This race was so different than my last one I did. It was hilly, and really hot. It was by the beach which was beautiful and the crowds were amazing. They had bands along the streets. My favorite part was that they had our names on the bib. So people would yell your name out. It was awesome. I had fun even though I didn't beat my last time. A wise girl told me that every race is different and you can't compare them or your times. I ended up finishing at 2:24. My goal was to beat 2:22. I am still bugged because I trained way better than that. Oh well, I finished and I can say that I finished 4,390 out of 7,026. I'm thinking my next half will be Park City or San Fran. Both would be amazing.

Way to go! I think it's awesome. You look so great too. Congrats on finishing!
I have this goal to run a half marathon this year. If you did Park City and let me know soon enough, it'd be super fun to meet up and run it. I may end up doing the Provo Half marathon that is in June, but it'll depend on how quickly I can start training.
You are AWESOME Alisa! 2 1/2 marathons! Wow! I wanna be like you! Great job and I loved reading about it. I laughed on the one about pouring the power drink over the head- funny! I have my sights set on a 1/2 this year for sure! I'm looking at running the vegas one the first weekend of December. There's one here in nov but it seems like a lame run and they don't let you run with music... shoot me. I've had some IT band muscle issues and have had to "take it easy" the last 2 months. I hate it. Anyway... you are super COOL and I am so happy for you, and Rushelle and Emily. Way to go girlie!
Congrats! Looks like you had fun. My goal is 2:25 (my last half time) but so glad you said that you can't compare races. :) I'm worried about my race because I train in the morning before the sun even scratches the surface and it is SO much easier because you can't see how far you have left. But the race is in the morning so I'm screwed! Why can't they have races that start at 5:30 am?
way to go Alisa!! You did awesome. I didn't feel sad to miss all of the training but to read about your experiences and Lindsay's experience made me sad that I missed it. I will join all of you next time......maybe:) Great job!!
You are my hero!!! I am so proud of you. :)
I loved this post! I was totally laughing out loud at parts. You did awesome! I don't think I would have made it even one mile - way to go!
You rock! What a great experience. I agree running and training with friends is always more fun than doing it by yourself. I loved your list, too funny! Sounds like it was a great race with a fantastic view! I think it's neat that your bibs had your names printed on them. Congrats on your race! You're awesome!
What a great and cute way to post about the race! It sounds like a good time. It definitely makes a difference running with friends. I'm sorry you didn't make your goal time. I know how frustrating that is. I missed mine by two minutes last time as well. BUT, you finished it!!
I didn't poor it on my head, just got some in my hair. I didn't eat the vasoline, but thought about it. :) It was awesome, I can do anything next to a beautiful ocean. I'm ready for the second one. Let me know what you decide. I miss it already, (not quite yet).
Congrats! That is amazing! I LOVE running on the beach. Every time I'm in Cali I make sure to do it (wouldn't that be nice if we could always run there?) You seriously look great!
