Sports

It's no secret that our family loves sports. I know some parents think we are crazy to have as many kids as we do in sports, and yes it can be crazy but we love it. It keeps us busy and that's with only 3 kids in one sport each. What the crap will we do when all 5 play? Our weekdays are filled with practice and Saturdays filled with games. This spring season was the first season in 5 years Luke hasn't coached. When I found out I was pregnant with Lucy I told him(yes I told him, there was no asking him) he was not coaching. There was no way I would survive chasing Noah around with a brand new baby. It was the best thing ever. It was so nice to have Luke there watching instead of being a coach. I told him when Lucy's 1 we'll talk about him coaching again:)

Nick played baseball with Henderson Little league. We could have played him up in the next division but we decided to let him play one more year of Rookies. I am a firm believer in wanting my kids to play the better positions and play more than wanting to move them to the higher level and hardly playing at all. It was a great move. Not to sound all braggy,(but hey. this is my blog and I can right?)but Nick was the superstar on the team. He's coaches loved it and were blown away by how good he was. One of the coaches played in the minor leagues for years and said that he has never seen an 8 year old play the way Nick does. It's hard to explain, but he's a smart player. He just knows what to do with that ball when he is out on the field. Nick's team as a whole was a really young team. A lot of 5 and 6 year olds. So they didn't do very well but Nick had fun and played really hard.

Parker played T ball again and we debated putting him up in Rookies. Manly because him and Nick would be on same team and it would eliminate a game for us. We decided against it and it was a big mistake. He could have played on Nick's team and actually do really well. Oh well. You live and learn. He still had fun being the superstar.(oh wait did I just call my other kid a superstar? you bet I did!!) Hmmm after going through pictures I realized we have hardly any of Parker playing. If your reading this Parker in 20 years, I promise we loved you just as much. Crap! Do I have the excuse that Those were the games where Luke was out of town the most because they were always on Wednesday?

Sammy played another season of volleyball and improved so much that it makes me a little emotional. Sammy isn't the most athletic child. And I say that in the sweetest way. She doesn't like to get hot, she doesn't like the grass because it makes her itch. She's not the type to want to run into people. I have always loved volleyball, and so I told her she had to chose between volleyball and basketball. She said neither. I told her too bad....volleyball it is. Why, yes I am totally living vicariously through my daughter. So you can say she was pushed into. So glad I did. She loves it and is getting very good at it. She lucked out and got a great coach. This was her 2nd season with her team and they wont the championships again. I am so proud of her. She stuck through it and worked so hard. So even kept going after a few girls had told her she wasn't good. this actually happened a few times. The mama bear in me was dying to get upset at them.I held back and let her handle it on her own.

I love this picture of her neighbor friends who played on the same team as her.

I love all my sporty kids and I hope they continue their love of sports. And maybe get a few college scholarships. Too soon? Okay I'll wait on that one. Now if only we could get Noah on a team so he can focus all his energy on that. Now we take a break during the summer. Can't wait!!

I would probably do more sports if Dan and Clark were into it, but they're not. Great job at baseball Nicky! Sammy looks so cute playing volleyball. They start so young where you are...they start at age 10 here to play on a team.
